A year ago we opened a door at five o'clock on a Saturday afternoon and we waited to see who would walk through it. Three people came that first week. Last Saturday there were thirty-one.
It is the holiest room in this building. Not because of incense or stained glass — it has neither — but because of the honesty that gets spoken inside of it. People say things in Presence Recovery that they have not said anywhere else in their lives.
I cannot tell you the stories. They belong to the room. But I can tell you this: grace is real. The Spirit is at work. And the cross is sufficient even for the addictions we used to be sure were unbreakable.
